The site is officially up and running, so you can subscribe to the RSS feed for updates. There will be new content regularly added, and for now check out the Bands page, Shows, Venues, and Interviews.

There are interviews with new Pittsburgh transplants Action Camp and the North Carolina band The Physics of Meaning.

Welcome to the Pittsburgh Indie Music Scene

How do you sound independent? To me, the term indie is more of an attitude or approach to music, so don’t think this site is dedicated to bands who are ripping off Pavement or the Pixies. It means you’re more concerned with your music than you are with anything else. Instead of being caught up with labels, just enjoy music for its own sake.

Another label that can at times can be meant to be derogatory is “local.” As in a local band who can’t reach beyond the scope of their own city. Pittsburgh has a vast and varied music scene, despite what some of its members might actually think. Unfortunately, I’ve come across quite a bit of undeserving criticisms, mostly from fellow musicians. What we need to keep in mind is that we are the scene, and the scene is what we make of it.
